QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
This FAQ explains what a dead end strain clamp is, how tension clamp types differ, which documented strength requirements apply, and what buyers should confirm before ordering the Tension Clamp, Strain Clamp, Dead-End Clamp product.
A dead end strain clamp may also be called a tension clamp or strain clamp.
A dead end strain clamp is a metal fixture used to secure wires, withstand wire tension, and hang wires onto tension strings or towers. The product is called “Tension Clamp,Strain Clamp,Dead-End Clamp.”
Tension clamps fall into two categories according to their structure and installation conditions:
For the first type, the clamping force should not be less than 90% of the rated tensile force of the installed conductor or lightning protection wire.
For the described optical-cable fitting set, the grip strength of the cable clamp is stated as not less than 95% of the rated tensile strength of the optical cable. This figure applies to the optical-cable application described, not automatically to every dead end strain clamp.
The product description states that tension clamps are used for corner, splice, and terminal connections. It also describes a complete set of fiber optic cable tension fittings comprising tension pre-twisted wire and matching connection fittings.
This fitting set is suitable for ADSS optical cable lines with a span of no more than 100 meters.
Before requesting a quotation or technical confirmation, provide the intended application and identify whether the clamp is for a conductor, lightning protection wire, or optical cable. Also confirm the required clamp type and the applicable rated tensile strength.
